With over 20 years of experience as a licensed marriage and family therapist, I am dedicated to empowering teenagers to work through the unique challenges they face during this transformative stage of life. Whether your teen is struggling with anxiety, depression, academic stress, social pressures, or self discovery, I provide a safe and supportive environment where they can express themselves freely and learn practical strategies to thrive.
My practice is situated in the neighboring community of Agoura Hills, easily accessible from Thousand Oaks. I offer the flexibility of in person sessions at my comfortable office and secure virtual therapy sessions, which can be accessed conveniently anywhere in California.
Today's adolescents face various pressures, from the demands of academics and extracurricular activities to the complexities of peer relationships and self discovery. It's not uncommon for teens to struggle with stress, anxiety, low mood, self doubt, and interpersonal conflicts. As an experienced teen therapist, I approach these concerns with empathy and expertise, equipping teens with practical strategies to manage their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors to promote wellbeing and personal growth.
I recognize that every teenager is unique, with their own set of strengths, challenges, and goals. That's why I tailor my therapeutic approach to meet the specific needs of each adolescent I work with. By fostering a warm, without judgment environment built on trust and understanding, I create a safe space for teens to open up and explore their innermost thoughts and feelings.
My teenage clients and I embark on a collaborative journey towards personal growth and wellbeing. We focus on developing essential life skills, such as emotional regulation, effective communication, problem solving, and stress management. By empowering teens with the tools and insights they need to navigate life's challenges, I help them build a strong foundation for long term success and fulfillment.
Engaging in therapy during adolescence can profoundly impact a teen's emotional wellbeing, self esteem, and overall development. Through our work together, teenagers learn to better understand and express their emotions, leading to improved emotional intelligence and healthier relationships with others.
Moreover, therapy can help teens develop a stronger sense of self, boosting their confidence and self worth as they work through the challenges of growing up. By learning effective problem solving and coping strategies, adolescents become better equipped to handle stress, overcome obstacles, and make positive life choices.
As a dedicated adolescent therapist, my mission is to empower teens with the tools, insights, and support they need to thrive during this transformative period of their lives. By providing a nurturing therapeutic environment, I aim to help teenagers build Resilience, cultivate healthy relationships, and lay the groundwork for a fulfilling future.
There are several indicators that your teenager may benefit from therapy, such as persistent feelings of sadness, worry, or irritability; withdrawal from family and friends; significant changes in sleep or eating patterns; declining academic performance; engaging in risky or self destructive behaviors; or expressing thoughts of self harm or hopelessness. If your teen has experienced a traumatic event, is going through a major life transition, or seems to be struggling with their mental health, therapy can provide much-needed support and guidance.
One of the most important ways to support your teenager in therapy is by being open, nonjudgmental, and accepting of their experiences and feelings. Please encourage them to attend sessions regularly and practice the skills and techniques they learn in therapy. Respect their privacy and confidentiality while letting them know you are available to listen and offer support whenever they need it. Regularly check in with your teen and their therapist to discuss progress, concerns, and ways you can continue to foster a supportive home environment.
In addition to working directly with teenagers, I offer parenting therapy to support families working through the unique challenges of raising adolescents. Parenting a teenager can be a complex and sometimes overwhelming experience, and it's common for parents to feel uncertain about how to support their child during this transformative stage.
During parenting therapy sessions, we work together to identify and address specific challenges you may face in your relationship with your teenager. This may include developing effective communication strategies, setting appropriate boundaries, and working through the complexities of your teenager's growing independence and changing needs.
Our goal is to foster a strong, supportive, and trusting relationship between you and your teen while also prioritizing your emotional wellbeing. Parenting therapy can help you develop the skills and confidence needed to guide your teenager through this critical developmental stage and create a positive, nurturing family environment.
Whether you struggle with specific issues or seek guidance and support as you manage the ups and downs of parenting a teenager, therapy can be a valuable resource. Together, we can work towards building a stronger, more resilient relationship with your teen and promoting your family's overall wellbeing.
Conveniently located in Agoura Hills, CA 91301, my practice serves teens and families from Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Oak Park, Calabasas, Woodland Hills, Simi Valley, and Ventura County. For those unable to visit in person, I offer secure virtual therapy to residents throughout California.
Teen sessions are conversational and follow the teen's lead. Some need to talk about school or music for a few sessions before the deeper conversation opens up, and that is fine. The goal is a space where your teenager feels heard and builds real coping skills. Sessions are at my Agoura Hills office or by secure video.
I work with adolescents roughly ages eleven through eighteen, adapting to where each teen is developmentally rather than just their age.
My Agoura Hills office is a short drive from Thousand Oaks via the 101 freeway.
