Sexual Abuse Therapy in Encino

Sexual Abuse Therapy in Encino with Julie Klamon, LMFT

Julie Klamon LMFT, sexual abuse therapist serving Encino survivors

Surviving sexual abuse changes the way a person moves through the world. Trust gets complicated. The body can feel like it is no longer your own. Some survivors carry it quietly for years, functioning on the outside while something underneath never fully settles. If that is where you are, I want you to know that what you are feeling makes sense, and that healing is possible at a pace you control.

I have more than 20 years of experience working with children, teens, and adults affected by sexual abuse. Before opening my practice, I spent over a decade at one of Los Angeles's leading agencies helping young survivors, and I am a certified UCLA Rape Treatment Center / Sexual Assault Counselor with extensive experience supporting survivors there. That training shapes how carefully I approach this work.

My office is in Agoura Hills, about 30 minutes from Encino on the 101 West. For survivors who value privacy or prefer to begin from home, I also offer secure virtual sessions across California. However you start, my goal is the same: a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can heal.

A Private Place to Heal Near Encino

Encino is a connected, family-focused community where people often share schools, social circles, and the same stretch of Ventura Boulevard. For a survivor of sexual abuse, that closeness can make the idea of seeking help feel exposed. Many of the people I work with want their healing kept entirely separate from their daily life, and that is a completely reasonable need. My Agoura Hills office sits well outside the immediate neighborhood, and secure virtual sessions let you meet from a private space without anyone needing to know. Confidentiality is not an afterthought here. It is the foundation that makes this work possible.

How Sexual Abuse Can Show Up

Encino survivor reflecting on progress made in sexual abuse therapy

The effects of sexual abuse reach into many parts of life, and they look different from one person to the next. Survivors often experience some combination of the following:

  • Nightmares and disrupted sleep
  • Flashbacks or intrusive memories
  • Changes in appetite
  • Fearfulness or feeling constantly on guard
  • Difficulty trusting others
  • Changes in sexual behavior
  • Trouble concentrating at work or school
  • Strain on personal relationships
  • Depression, sadness, or self blame

If any of these feel familiar, you are not broken and you are not alone. These are common responses to trauma, and they can ease with the right support.

How I Help Survivors Heal

Encino sexual abuse therapy: survivor finding healing

I work in individual therapy, a one-on-one setting where you can talk through your experiences and feelings at your own pace and build coping strategies in a confidential space. When it helps, I also offer family therapy, since abuse often affects more than the survivor alone. Bringing in family members can rebuild trust, improve communication, and let a family heal together. You can read more about my general approach on my sexual abuse therapy page.

Over time, this work tends to bring relief from symptoms like flashbacks and difficulty trusting, steadier relationships, and a return of self worth that abuse so often erodes. You set the direction, and we go only as fast as feels safe.
